I give so many Love and Relationship Tarot Card Readings, and especially during the Valentine’s Day Season. Whether my client is looking for a Tarot Reading because they are looking for love or trying to work on a relationship they already have, these are the 5 things you are doing wrong in your search for love.

1. Being a people pleaser

Of course it is very important to be kind and caring to the one you love or the person you are interested in, but not at the expense of your own self. I know it is a cliche to say, “You can’t love anyone else until you love yourself,” but it is very important to cultivate self-love, live in your integrity, and do what is right for you first and foremost. If you love yourself first you will be happy and feel affirmed. From this state of mind and perspective the right partner will be attracted to you in your strength!

2. Trying to find partners at bars

I don’t believe a bar or a club is the best place to find someone to connect with for the simple reason that most folks go to bars to have a drink (or several) to disconnect! So, how well are you going to connect with someone who’s motivation is to get away from their day or numb themselves? A better place to really connect with others might be a spiritual center, yoga studio, at meetup groups, a chance encounter, or through mutual friends. You can’t expect to create intimacy or connection with those that want to be disconnected.

3. Going after unavailable people

Some people love the chase… but you are not going to find love going after those that are unavailable. A person can be unavailable for many reasons such a being taken, they are avoidant, they live too far away, or they could have an addiction. Nevertheless, these people are not going to be able to provide the grounded, loving, wholesome relationship that you want! A relationship is built with another person who is present and available, someone you can build a home with!

4. Only searching for love online

Now-a-days we do everything online, and spend so much time on social media! Those who are single might go on Match or Tinder, regardless of bad experiences or a low success rate. I think most of us know it is pretty unlikely that we are going to find love on Tinder. It would be like winning the lottery or finding a fad diet that actually works! In order to find love we must be willing to put ourselves in spaces where single and available folks go. So try salsa dancing, explore a new hobby, try a new cool gym, but put yourself out there and see what you can find!

5. Not doing what you love

One of the most important things I feel in finding love is doing what you love! When we follow our bliss, discover our spiritual path, go after our careers, and explore our interests and hobbies we shine. And it is from this sparkly place that we can attract the person that is right for us. Not only do we put ourselves in an environment where a potential love interest will notice us, we go into situations where we are much more likely to find someone that we truly vibe with.
