As we draw to the end of Summer, the days have already begun to get both a little cooler and a little shorter, and Fall is about to begin! The Fall or Autumnal Equinox is TODAY September 23rd of 2015 and I am ready to celebrate and give Tarot Readings! I am excited to see pumpkin flavored lattes have made their debut again, and the local Halloween and Spirit stores are stocked up and ready to rock n’ roll! Both Halloween and Thanksgiving are some of my favorite Holidays!
Fall is an amazing season, and signifies a time when the energy of nature begins to retreat. Everything becomes more yin, cooler, the days become shorter, and the leaves descend to the Earth to become soil. It is also a time of harvest, which culminates on Thanksgiving. On September 23rd, the day of the Equinox, the Sun will spend an equal amount of time both above and below the horizon at every location on Earth! Therefore, both night and day will be the same length! After the Fall Equinox however, the days will be shorter then the nights as we approach the Winter season.
The Autumn season is a time of retreat, introspection, going back to school, looking within, and a harvest time. During this season we can focus on being reflective and thoughtful. Personally, I feel that the Autumnal Equinox is a perfect time to get a Tarot Reading because the energy of nature is withdrawing, and it is easier for us to look within! It is a great time to ask questions about your Spiritual Journey, Career Path, or even how you should proceed with your education. All in all, it is a time of soul searching and looking within to discover the next steps on your Spiritual Journey.
The Zodiac sign that dominates the beginning of September and is sacred to Virgo is the Hermit Card. The Hermit represents going within to find one’s wisdom. The Hermit represents going inward, finding one’s inner light, resting in your own center, harvest time, and the Wise Guide. The Hermit is said to hold the light of the Sun in his lantern. He cultivates solitude. And it is here that I would like to mention that if gratitude is a “grateful attitude”, that solitude is a “solar attitude” or the attitude of looking within to find one’s inner light!
Meanwhile, on September 23rd, the day of the Equinox, Libra time begins. The Tarot Card that is sacred to Libra is the Adjustment or Justice Card, and this makes perfect sense because the Justice Card balances the alpha and the omega, and thus night and day. She balances the opposites, and is the pivotal moment between the seasons changing. As she holds the scales, her energy is sacred to cultivating balance, equilibrium, harmonizing the opposites, and adjustment. Traditionally speaking she is Marjor Arcana number XI and is at the center of the Tarot pack. Justice is also sacred to Karma or the Law of Cause and Effect. If you are looking to get centered Justice or Adjustment is a great card to meditate on!
Both the Hermit and the Adjustment/Justice Card are great archetypes to meditate on this month and help you concentrate your energy during September.
