Synchronicity – There is no such thing as a Coincidence! Get 10% Off a Tarot Reading!
Archetypal psychologist Carl Jung was the first to introduce the concept of synchronicity. A synchronicity happens when meaningful coincidences occur that have no causal relationship yet are still meaningfully related. An age old example would be thinking about a friend, when the phone rings, and it is actually that friend you had been thinking about calling you!
The first time I was introduced to the idea of synchronicity it was when I was reading James Redfield’s book The Celestine Prophecy. Through reading this book I learned that synchronicity was essentially the way our Higher Self or Holy Guardian Angel tapped into messages from the Universe to help guide us along our spiritual journey of life! The Celestine Prophecy was written like an adventure tail where the reader is guided through the journey of the protagonist through unfolding coincidence and synchronicity.
In regard to understanding how the Tarot works it helps to consider Jung’s concept of synchronicity. When your hand, a channel for your energy, moves across the Tarot cards it will be drawn or attracted to a card with a corresponding and synchronous energy. This phenomenon can be attributed to the Law of Attraction and the Law of Vibration which is popular today. The card will thus be meaningful to the situation at hand, and can help one come into a deeper understanding of the forces of vibrational energy that are at work in his/her life.
For the sake of deeper understanding I would like to give you an example of synchronicity from my life. Last night, in my neighbors “Take a Book” outdoor library I noticed a book called The Invitation. Because I am known to keep and collect a lot of books I wanted to withhold from bringing another book home. But, the next day on the way home from taking my infant daughter on a walk I came across the book and it was still there. I picked it up, and this is what I saw…
This was a great synchronicity for me, because I had been meeting with my friend Amy and discussing the direction of my career. Amy in many ways has become a mentor to me, and one of the strongest and most confident women I know. The quote on the front of the book states…
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for”
And on the back it continues…
“and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive…”
Notice that the poem makes reference to the risk of looking like a fool for love, for your dream, and for the adventure of being alive. The very first Card in the Tarot is the Fool Card, and he represents the naïve adventurer, and risk taker who goes about life with faith instead of fear. Thus the reference to the fool had a deep synchronous meaning for me not just in regard to “what I do for a living” but because he is the Hero in the Tarot. The Fool’s Journey is also known as the Hero’s Journey in Tarot Philosophy.
More, there is a beautiful sunflower on the cover of the book. When I was a child my Dad told me that he always wanted to name me Sunshine but that my mother chose the name Bianca. My father passed on in 2005 and it was a very deep loss for me as he was my best friend. I had a florist decorate with sunflowers at my father’s funeral. So, seeing the picture of the sunflower on this book was a synchronicity for me as well, and almost like getting a message from my father.
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for”
These two sentences from this poem, have hit me deep in my soul. And I intend to delve deeper into my heart and subconscious to fine, uncover, and discover what it is I truly ache for and bring it to life. I have a feeling this is going to involve a lot of revelations for me.
Also, one more synchronicity is that on the back of the book you can also see that Wayne W. Dyer, author of the Power of Intention reviewed The Invitation, and I was actually looking at his book yesterday, and pulling his Power of Intention cards that morning!
These are some examples of synchronicity in my life, and I hope you enjoyed them.
